This run will take us to visit the Vulcan Bomber at Wellesbourne Mountford Airfield where we can get up close and personal with this iconic aircraft.
The run will set out from Ellenden Farm Shop & Cafe at Honeybourne.
We will meet at the cafe between 11.30 and 12.00 for a light lunch or snack before heading off at 13.00 on a short run to get to Wellesbourne airfield just before 14.00 and the start of the visit.
This event is slightly different form the usual as the main feature is the visit rather than the run itself.
The Bill Lacey Memorial Run is an annual motorcycle gathering held in the village of Evenly on the first Sunday of every August.
The event draws an interesting mix of contemporary, custom, classic and vintage motor cycles and takes place around the village green and the Red Lion pub car park.
Legend has it that Bill, a famous Norton race engineer and racer in the 1920's & 30's, offered to buy motorcyclists a pint if they came to his local pub, the Red Lion. While there are no more free pints, the riders keep coming once a year, every year.
Our run starts from the Square in Chipping Campden at 10 for a 10-30AM departure and arrives in Evenly at around 12-30. You make your own way home from there having perused all the bikes and fueled up at the Red Lion.
Our annual Cotswold Way Run will start from Hayles Fruit Farm Cafe, Winchcombe.
A 90 mile road run following the route of the Cotswold Way long distance foot path. The event is open to all classes of motor cycle.
Signing on begins at 9AM and the first bikes are away at 10.
The Founder's Relay Rally is a National biennial event held in memory of the founder of the VMCC, Charles Edmund Allen O.B.E., B.E.M; affectionately known by many as “Titch”.
The Rally is open to all members riding a machine of 25 years or older. After signing on, you collect a free Rally Plate and ride to as many checkpoints as you wish around the UK.
The VMCC issues a sheet within the monthly VMCC Journal before the event giving details of each numbered checkpoint, its hosts, location, telephone number and directions, as well as thei approximate location on a map; there are also spaces for stickers which can be collected from each location visited.
Checkpoints are staffed by volunteer members who open up their homes and garages and, very often, kindly supply refreshments in the form of teas, coffees, sausage and bacon butties and cakes etc. All in all it is great fun and an opportunity for members to enjoy riding their bikes to travel and meet other members from different sections.
Organised this year by the Cheshire and North Wales Section, more details are available here.
The North Cotswold Section will stage a checkpoint outside the Lygon Arms in Chipping Campden. Please volunteer to staff the checkpoint if you are not riding the event.
