This is something of a unique event organised by the VMCC HQ to significantly mark the Club's 70th Anniversary.
The idea is that each section Nationally is invited to participate in carrying a purpose made, celebration baton from their region to a neighbouring section. This process will continue until the baton has passed to as many sections as wish to participate from all around the country.
The overall Baton Rally runs between April and June and culminates, with some exceptions, at a celebratory weekend event at Cadwell Park that is open to all comers from the 24th to the 26th of June. This event also includes the possibility of running your own road bike on the track.
In addition, the Cadwell Park weekend jointly celebrates the British Historic Racing Club's (BHR) 50th Anniversary and they will be staging races as part of the proceedings.
For our part in the relay aspect of the Rally, we will receive the Baton from the Shropshire Section and then pass it to the South Cotswold Section.
We will receive the Baton from Shropshire on Wednesday 11th May at somewhere around Cleobury Mortimer; the exact venue is yet to be agreed. There will be a planned a route for those who wish to be involved with the collection run which will start as usual from The Square, Chipping Campden at 10AM for a 10-30 departure.
The subsequent handover to the South Cotswold Section will take place during the lunch stop at The Mill at Withington as part of the 12th of May Wrinkley Run.
More details of the overall event, including the grand finalé at Cadwell Park, can be found at the VMCC HQ website in the online publication of the February Journal but this area of the site is only available if you are already a member of the VMCC unfortunately. (Hopefully, there will be a dedicated web page there soon!)
